The Camillians Visit the Quezon Institute

“…we take a fourth vow whereby we consecrate ourselves to the service of the sick, both in hospitals and elsewhere, even at the risk of our own life, by imitating the good Samaritan and following the example of St. Camillus, who considered the sick as his ‘lords and masters’.” (Camillian Const., Art. 28)

For four consecutive Mondays in May this year, the Camillians visited to the Quezon Institute at E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave, Quezon City. Donned in their individual PPE, the Camillian fathers together with volunteers accompanied the COVID-19 patients and healthcare frontliners by celebrating the Holy Eucharist and bearing with them the Good News.
The visit on May 25, 2020 was significant because it was the birthdate of St. Camillus de Lellis (patron saint of the sick, nurses, hospitals and healthcare workers) and the feast of the Camillian Martyrs of Charity.

The Camillians feel the anguish and fear of our suffering brothers and sisters with the SARS-CoV 2 virus as well as those medical frontliners who look after them. Thus the Camillian Covid-19 Response aims to show love for them, a “love that emanates from the heart of God. For the love of God is a miraculous force that helps all of us focus on the beauty of people’s lives and keeps the flame of hope alive.” The sick should be the object of genuine Christian love and concern; that they should be cured and cared for.

The rite of the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was held around the tuberculosis facility. Through this rite, the people in the hospital can feel the comforting presence of the Lord, that He is alive and He is always with us.

Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Camillians pray for everyone’s healing, safety and protection.
